Sarah Bernard: People say there are three trimesters in pregnancy, but if you think about it, your body is not entirely your own for a long time. A really long time.

And even though you've just done this amazing thing with your body, 65 percent of our site moms say their body image is worse after baby than before.

It's complicated.

Woman 1: I didn't like it. I still don't like it. I'm still in my fourth trimester.

Woman 2: I called it a kangaroo pouch for a while, because it felt like a kangaroo pouch.

Woman 3: She actually said I was squishy the other day, and instead of getting upset I finally was able to just laugh about it. Like I am kind of squishy now. It's just, "I'm squishy, what am I going to do?"

Woman 1: But I think the other women all look great after they have their kids. I always comment to him how beautiful other women look afterwards.

Sarah Bernard: You want to say something?

Woman 4: It takes a lot of mental gymnastics, especially when you've just had a baby, to, you know, say, “I'm beautiful … Oh, I'm such a fat pig … Oh, but I'm beautiful and I'm a warrior. I just had a baby … But you're such a fat pig."

Your head and your heart feel different things. My head was telling me that, of course, my body was not back to normal, but my heart was really stoked when I lost 20 pounds in like a week. I feel like the best thing that people told me, even though it wasn't always effective was, "You're beautiful and you just had a baby, and there's absolutely no reason why you should be skinny right now."

Woman 5: With my first, I kind of popped back right away. So it wasn't – actually, I think I was thinner. I was like, “Dude, this is awesome.” But with this nearly 11-pound child, I'm still fighting. He's 10 years old and I'm still, you know, a little bit, a little bit. I love you, boy, I love you. Yeah.

Sarah Bernard: Aw.

Woman 5: Yeah. He was 10 pounds, 7 ounces.
